2007 SPRING SEASON UNDERWAY:
Training Tuesdays & Thursdays @6:30pm, Williams Road in Estero.
1.14.07 HAMMERHEADS DOWN TRIDENTS IN PRESEAON MATCH
Naples started the Spring off right with a big win against the Miami Tridents. Despite having only trained together for a couple of weeks, Naples was able to realize some of its great potential in a fun and exciting match.
The Hammerheads drew first blood, driving off a lineout into the corner where Tom Napierkowski touched down. Brian Weir followed suit with a touchline conversion.
· Naples 7-0
About 5 minutes later, the Tridents answered with a converted try of their own.
· 7-7
Naples gained good field position from a touch kick by Andrew Marcus to set up a lineout in Miami's 22. Good solid drive and hard forward running worked the ball up to the 10 meter line and drew in the opposition. Quick hands set Patricio Braillard up, crossfield for the try.
·Naples 12-7
Not to be ousted easily, Miami came back just before half time with another converted try, putting them ahead going into the break.
·12-14 Miami
Naples continued to hammer away midfield, eventually drawing penalties in the middle of the field. Brian Weir kicked 2 in a row to put Naples back on top.
·Naples 18-14
Naples spent much of last quarter on defense, stopping 2 tryline attempts by Miami, in the end holding out the Tridents offense. Steve Dutton ended the game with a burst up the sideline to touchdown another try for Naples. Brian Weir converted.
·FINAL Naples 25-14
· MAN of the MATCH: Andrew Marcus

Naples Rugby
Club — WE'RE GOING TO CUBA!
Authorized to play in Cuba
On April 25th the Naples Florida Rugby Club was granted
a license by the US Treasury Department that will allow
them to visit Cuba for an international sporting event.
Click Here to View the License!
A 45 member group made up of 40 players, 2 coaches, 2
trainers and 1 referee will leave for Cuba on July 2nd and
return on July 10th.
The Naples rugby club will be playing four games during
their stay with two of the games against the Cuba National
Side on July the 4th
It is being planned that the game on July 4th will take
place in the Cuban National Stadium with President Fidel
Castro present. If this occurs there will also be a very
good chance that the game will be shown on Cuban television.
This event marks the first time that a US Rugby team of
15 players will go against the Cuban National squad. A historic
event considering the current political climate and bans
on American travel to this country.

This is our tournament that helps benefit a player who became
handicap while playing hooker. It is not a qualifier this
year. It's in Orlando(Disney) and there is beautiful weather
around that time. This is strictly a benefit for a member
of our rugby family. I would really like to see more women's
teams out there for 7's! I will be updating you all on a
week to week basis unless you tell me otherwise!
Thank
you so much,
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Registration fees are $100 for women
and we would like to get a sort of RSVP by June 25th, 2005.
Teams that have already responded:
UCF women
