Home Victory 32-10 over Boca Raton (12/6/08)

The Hammerheads did what they were unable to do away at Boca: finish strong. Great individual efforts were made but the team gelled together to make fewer mistakes and show why we practice. After two quick scores, the first half became somewhat static. At the break it was 15-10 Naples. The game could’ve gone anyway. With discussion we adjusted and began to win more in the rucks. Our forwards we satisfactory in both games especially in the lineout’s and scrums. Man of the match Tom (don’t ask me how to spell the surname) showed an exciting line break proving even the big guys can motor. It was rousing to watch and play in both matches and we should only expect continuously rising performances throughout.
The B match proved to be fun to play in. It was a fast paced 10s game. We showed improvement in some of the weak points of our young side from last year. There were some good scrums and lineouts. Adam Oakley, a brand new Hammerhead, showed great promise as a jumper and stepped up in the second row when he was needed to leave his normal back row to accommodate our 5 man scrum. Man of the match went to Keith “Doc” Ward for his strong running and mauling try. 12-5 Boca.

DI Season kicks off with 24-13 victory at Boca Raton (11/22)

The season started off with a bang as tries were placed down by Tom, Eddie and Ryan within the first 15 minutes. A change in wind for the second half and other on field opportunities not taken led to a tough Boca comeback effort with the Hammerheads hanging on for the victory.

Florida Cup vs. Ft. Lauderdale

We lost a tough match in the Florida Cup Semi-Final to Ft. Lauderdale in St. Pete. The match opened with FTL starting aggressively and going up 21-0 in 15 minutes. Being that the Hammerheads do not go down easily, they put up a hard fight to draw within 1 with about 20 minutes left in the match. A couple unfortunate bounces led to a defeat to Ft. Laud. with a final of 20 to 31. FTL was defeated in OT on Sunday by Daytona for the hardware.

15 Year Anniversary Weekend - January 31

The Naples RFC was founded 15 years ago by Larry Fox, Chris Sadler, Sean Reddick among others. Let's take the opportunity on the weekend surrounding 1/31 to celebrate the great friendships made and our clubs successes!!! We plan a match on 1/31 to be fun and safe for all. Social events to surround the match. Please mark your calendar! If you plan travel from out of the area......don't make plans for hotels, we will house those making the trip!
