Name: Raelyn Barlow (no middle name!)
AKA: Razz, Red Foot,
Moth Girl (Thanks, Alex!) Age:

BIGGEST Fish Fry!) Years
playing rugby: 5 Rugby
Position: flanker/prop, occasional 8-Chick
(never to be seen in the back line!) Best
Rugby Memory: On the pitch: absolute best was
competing in our club's very 1st South Championship
in Furman and scoring a try... then getting Most Valuable
Forward for that match! Off the pitch, I have a zillion
awesome memories, how can a Gemini like me pick just
one?! Guess one of the best was traveling to CA with
the boys and drinking our way through wine country
all day in Napa Valley - while guysgot ready for Nationals!
Something Interesting about
me: I love Snuffleupagus. Yoda is my current
hero. I secretly want "big hair" to make
a comeback. And when I was a reporter, I was nearly
arrested on Fort Campbell, KY military base after
my videographer & I somehow wandered innocently
into a "Classified Area" -- where the Stealth
Bombers and missiles were kept. We were not-so-politely
escorted, at gunpoint, to the Military Police Station
and interrogated. Oops. |

Years playing rugby:

Came Lejeune Misfits & Lady Hammerheads. BUT-
Whored onto MANY teams! Favorite Team to Whore for:

Rugby Position: locke/prop
Best Rugby Memory:Going
all the way to Washington D.C. for the Ruggerfest
again and ending up playing Cape Fear in the losers,
loser bracket on Sunday after getting wasted with
them the night before. We
played and partyed with those girls ALL the time!!
Most Embarrasing Moment in
Rugby: During the 2004 South Championships
the fields were marked wrong and I dove into what
I thought was the try zone to score. The ref even
blew it a try! Charlotte told the sir that the try
zone was farther up. I got up and ran 10 more yards
and put the ball down again, but the ref didn't
count my try. :(
Something Interesting about
me:I'm a former Military Police Officer for
the U.S. Marine Corps! Semper Fi!
How started playing rugby:
I went to the Washington D.C. Ruggerfest to watch
my friends play rugby and party in our Nation's
Capitol. My girls ended up getting me to play after
I was kidnapped by another team while
their match was going on. My friends said I had
to play with them and not against them. The only
rules and advice they gave me was, don't throw the
ball forward and if someone has the ball, tackle
them! I got put in the Sinbin for a high tackle,
opps! I had a blast and have been playing ever since!! |

#6 flanker, #8
Name:Michelle Mendoza
AKA: Dozer Age:
25 Hometown: Miami,
FL Years playing rugby:
4years and 6 days Rugby
Position: flanker, 8, Utility Best
Rugby Memory: It isn't a win, or a try...I'm
not sure if anyone else will know what I'm talking
about (besides one of my first coaches Gabe Puello
that explained the phenomenon to me), but my finest
rugby memory was when I had my first "Rugby Epiphany".
I was in my second season of 15's playing at the Cocoa
Expo for all Florida Day. They had me at outside center
and I had been passed the ball. All of a sudden, everything
went into slow motion. I swear that I remember the
moment as if I were walking through a drill. I saw
my opponents in front of me a two on two. Then, as
if my coach was whispering in my ear, I thought "attach
the space between wing and OC...create the two on
one." It worked. The game sped up after that,
but I will never forget that split second that felt
like an eternity. Oh, I'd also like to add the ball
I picked off for my 95 meter try at Nationals this
year...did you honestly think I'd leave that one out?
Something Interesting about
me: My grand entrance into the Rugby Community
was as a water girl for the FIU Men's team (for 2
yrs). Thanks to the boys (Coach G and Gabe included)
on the team in May of 2002...I finally got the guts
to fall in love with an amazing sport. And thanks
to all their help--making me play "keep up with
the boys", much like older brothers--I've become
the rugger I am today. |
